Blood Call Lilith Saintcrow Books

I enjoyed this story. Lilith Saintcrow is a hit or miss author for me. I loved the Dante Valentine books and Jill Kismet books, but didn't enjoy her Bannon and Claire books and can't even finish the first Fae book. But I really enjoyed this story. The characters struggled in the first half, and I did struggle reading the first quarter as it seemed to follow a staid romance plot line. But the story soon sped up and twisted. I re-read it a few weeks after I read it the first time and I struggled less with the beginning.

Blood Call Lilith Saintcrow Books Reviews

Lillith Sauntcrow is one of my favorittes due to her twisting plots and often raw emotions. This book delivers on the raw emotion side, and also character development. The action is fast paced and violent, wiithout becoming absurd. For those who know this author, this has a similar feel as Dante Valentine and Jill Kimset.
This author really takes the reader out of the familiar while still writing in obvious tropes. I like her invention of slang and her use of language in her stories. This is a vampire story that was good but didn't grab me like her steampunk series.
I really like this author, one of my favorites being her YA series. Some of her series have been hit or miss. I wasn't sure about this one, but I ended up liking it, although the heroine's reason for leaving the hero really irritated me. I felt that she was unreasonable. And he was a jerk in the beginning, but he never had her follow through really on the "deal." He did back off really.
Loved the book. The characters were great. Even the one. No spoilers. Read her other book Working For The Devil. My most favorite book ever!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought the author did a superb job in blending several genres together. You get the romance, yes, but there's a heady mix of intrigue, suspense, and fantasy to keep things interesting and dare I say, believable.

I acknowledge several other reviewers' point about the MC demanding "sex as payment" for his help. It was a cold, brutal thing to do. But almost immediately, he chastises and berates himself for saying it. A lot of emotion was happening at this particular moment in the story (anxiety, relief, anger, hurt, etc), and who hasn't said something incredibly hurtful and stupid in the heat of the moment. Yeah, maybe I'm letting Josiah off a little easy, because it did come across as rapey, but I thought he did a good job of redeeming himself as well as a "liquidation asset" could do so he's not really a knight in shining armor kind of guy, which readers will quickly pick up on.

Yeah, and Anna did come off as a little weak, but there is strength to be found in surviving. This assumption that every victim is weak or useless because they don't fight back is a little harsh. Plenty of human beings (not just blonde heroines) who are unused to violence and danger simply focus on getting through it while still breathing. Not every heroine is going to be an @$$ kicking G.I. Jane.

Overall, a solid read. Somewhat of a niche book in that you must like your hero's tough, flawed, and secretly vulnerable, and your heroines average, also flawed, and slightly dependent. The thing is, they truly complement each other, which may be unappealing to some readers who have more feminist leanings. If this is you, I advise to steer clear. Otherwise, enjoy!
Great book! A neat read. I could see this becoming a series, not about Her, but rather about Him! I am all about the story, I never do **Spoilers** - I just want to find books I can climb into and stay a while, getting nice and comfy in the story being created.

Some heat in this one - lots of meat to chew on and think about - a for-sure-re-read-down-the-road!

I read comments, please say if I helped you at all?
Um, wow...I loved the Dante Valentine books, so I know the writer can write a decent story without saying the same thing over and over. I know she can develop characters. But in this book, she did not develop much of anything. I am slogging through and it is painful. I am not sure what happens to some writers. The first books produced are amazing then over time the stories lose cohesion, structure and development. Perhaps it is the pressure to produce more and more. All I know is the last two books from this author ...I could not finish
